"Mom, I called Fred"

What an interesting statement to come out of your 3 year olds mouth as he approaches his mother with her cell phone to his ear. Amber grabbed the phone from him thinking he dialed some random number and was talking to some random stranger. She looked at the screen to see the number and it turns out the random number looked a lot like 911, and the random stranger was Fred the 911 operator. She instinctively closed the phone which effectively hung up on "Fred". A few seconds later she got a call from county dispatch just to make sure everything was all right. I guess that's what we get for having an older child that is learning all these cool things to do in an emergency. Although Austin denies having anything to do with it, Jeffrey blames his knowledge of 911 on Austin.

But, I guess we've learned a valuable lesson from this. Calling 911 from Amber's cell phone will get us to the correct dispatch center, so in case of a true emergency or problem we won't have to worry about some random 911 operator taking the call and not being able to find us.

A Break in the Clouds

So it rained most of the night and into the morning, but quit about 8 or so and didn't rain the whole rest of the day. I took advantage and raked the carpet of leaves. They were way too wet, but with more rain in the forecast and a busy schedule I had to take advantage of the situation.

Jakey played outside all afternoon while I worked in the yard. He decided he was a big enough boy that he could follow the rest of the kids down the street to the neighbors house. It was pretty cute to see him walking next door all by himself. I called after him and he came right back. I can't believe how big he is getting. His latest thing is waking up in the middle of the night crying and asking for "da da" until Amber lays him next to me. He is definitely a daddy's boy.

Austin is loving school. He experiments with math all by himself. Last night he came to me and said, "Five and four is ten". I told him he'd better count again, so he did and came up with "Five and four is nine." I told him good job and he proceeded to tell me what five and three was. Then said, "I'm doing grownup stuff." I'm thinking "yes you are, but you need to stop. You're my little kid." But I said, "Yes you are" and asked him who told him that. He tells me his kindergarten teacher did. I'm sure glad he is learning. He loves to read, and has several books that he can read all by himself. He also loves to practice his math.

Jeffrey likes school when he gets there. Getting him there has proven to be quite the adventure for Amber each day. I'm glad that I can be at work and not have to deal with it. I've got it pretty easy. He calls Jakey "His best buddy", and is so concerned whenever he hears Jakey in the crib even if Jakey has just been put there and is supposed to be going to sleep. Jeffrey will go in and play with him and tell us "Jakey is awakey".

Well, enough of the boring life of me. This post has gotten tons longer than I anticipated. I was just going to write about the leaves, but then decided that nobody cared about me raking the leaves and decided to add a little about the kids and stuff. As soon as we take some cute pictures, we'll get them posted. Until then . . .

Rain, Rain, Go away. . .

We have an entire trees worth of leaves in our little tiny front yard. I've been putting of the chore of raking them because I haven't had time during daylight hours. Finally, I was looking forward to this afternoon when I would get off work earlier and be able to rake the leaves and do a few other outside chores that have been put off. Alas, mother nature has had other plans as it has rained most of the day, and it is no longer suitable to be outside raking. Although the kids sure love being out in the rain, it's just not my cup of tea anymore.

I guess maybe mother nature is telling me my laundry needs done more than the leaves need raked. There is a rather peculiar smell coming from that corner of my abode. . . .

New Slide Show

Check out the new slideshow. All photos are courtesy of Jeffrey: age 4. He likes to use the digital camera when we aren't looking. Some of his pictures aren't half bad.

P.S. Slideshow is on the right. ;)

P.P.S. I know that the "new" show looks vaguely similar to the one that was already there, but I can't get Picasa to talk with Blogger as quickly as I'd like. I think they need to go to counseling so that they can share their feelings quicker. Check back soon, it should be working correctly before too awful long.

P.P.P.S. Ok so it was all fine and dandy in the time that it took me to write and post the last p.s thing. I guess I could have gone back and just deleted it and left the original post. But then you wouldn't have been able to see the inner workings of my mind. Enjoy!

Bravery!

No this is not a post about the bravery of one my three sons as they tried something new for the first time. It's a post about me! It's a post about the first of, I'm sure, many nights waiting up for my kids to get home from where ever they are.

The neighbors, who we love to death, had a halloween party put on by the wood mill where the husband works, and invited Jeffrey to go along. They have a little boy about his age so we let him go. Then, one of Austin's friends invited him to go over for dinner and watch a movie, so . . . a little nervously because it's the first time, we let him go. About five minutes later I yawned and wondered if my kids were too young for me to be waiting up for them to come home. Keep in mind it was only 8.

Anyway, I guess parenting is all about the "firsts". There are so many that we look forward to, and yet, so many that we wish would never come and some we hope don't come that do. So, to my first night of "waiting up" I say cheers. And here's to many more.

Turn off the faucet!!

So, I usually do pretty good about staying a couple steps ahead of the sicknesses that go around my house. But, this time something snuck ahead and ambushed the heck out of me. My head is all swimmy and light and my nose runs like a faucet! Literally! I am constantly wiping it and it hurts! I wish I could turn it off like you would the water faucet. But enough of the gross details. I need my sleep!

Under Construction

Another reason to be annoyed! :) If you are reading this, then you will most likely notice a few things that seem to be incomplete on the right hand side of the page. I am currently doing some construction, or re-construction, and have decided to go to bed without getting everything set just the way I want it. So, forgive me, and come back soon to see the changes. Or, don't if you don't want to. I promise they aren't really going to be that exciting. I just discovered some new blogspot features and have been playing with them. Anyway, I'm off to bed before Amber wakes up and wonders where the heck I am.

Annoyed?

I recently had an interestingly ironic thought. For those interested to know, no it wasn't the first thought that I've had, and no it didn't hurt. But, what it did do was cause me to reflect on the fact that we haven't made a post in almost two months. Now, this is where the irony comes in. If I were looking at someone's blog and they hadn't made a post in almost two months, I would be annoyed. So hopefully for the one or two of you out there that actually take the time to come visit, you aren't too annoyed by the fact that it's been almost two months since we've updated this thing, and hopefully you continue to check back occasionally.

It's been a busy two months. Austin started kindergarten and is loving every minute of it. Jeffrey started preschool and he too is loving every minute of it. Jakob has grown in to quite the teaser. (I wonder where he got that from?) He is a hoot and keeps us on our toes. He loves to climb, and will climb onto or into anything.

It's getting into the busy season for both of my jobs. UPS is starting to pick up with what will be another busy Peak Season. Radio Shack is gearing up for Christmas as well. We are getting new toys, for kids little and big, almost daily. Between the two I'm not home much during the day, but the boys sure love to gather at the window and watch me ride up in front of the house on my motorcycle each evening when I come home.

Well, since I can barely keep my eyes open I guess this will have to do for now. I hope you don't get too annoyed waiting for the next new post. Who knows when it will arrive.

Teaching Moments

So last week me and the kids stayed the night at my mom and dad's so I could get out of the house a bit and so the kids could have a different place to play. The night that we stayed the night I realized that I forgot the plug in for my laptop. I was hoping to get some work done there while the kids were sleeping. My sister agreed to meet me half way to bring it to me. Austin wanted to come with me and the other two were asleep and he asked where we were going. I told him aunt Krist was going to meet us half way to bring us something. "Half way?" He said. I said, Yep we are going 1/2 way home to meet her and then we are coming back. He said, "Five is 1/2 way." Being astonished I said, yep five is half way to 10 from zero. Then we we were turning to the main road and he said pointing to the speed limit sign, "See Mom, 45." So then we talked about how five was in the middle of the numbers like 45 being between 40 and 50. It was really cute. I was surprised that he caught onto the concept so easily.

So then when we got done talking about that he started playing with my phone and pushing the numbers in order 1-10. Then he decided to go further and he can count to 20 but for some reason has always had a hard time with the number 13 so we talked about that and then he wanted to go beyond the number 20. I explained to him that each time the numbers start over 0-9. With the teens you just put a number 1 in the front of it and once you get to 20, you just put a 2 in front of them. He really liked that because then he could go as far as he wanted to! My phone ran out of spaces to put the numbers :)

Oooohhh, then the next day. I had let Austin and Jeffrey ride their bikes to a park not to far away from my parents house while I drove behind them and then they played there for awhile. Well when we got back they were kind of bored so I called their cousins that live up the road not TOO far away. Well they needed to do some chores before they could come so I told the boys to go put their sandals on to get ready for them to come over. I went back into the house to get them a treat and went back outside to give it to them and they were gone. Sometimes they ride around the block so I waited for a minute. After they didn't show up I got into my car to see if they had ridden their bikes to the park we were just at (they have done that before). I don't really like them to do that because I can't see them very well from my mom's house. I can see the park but I can't really distinguish their little bodies from there. I couldn't find them anywhere. So the next place I looked is at my brother's house where their cousins live that were going to come over. Sure enough, there they were!!!!! The ride there is around 1/4 to 1/2 mile and they live on a busy street. It scared the living daylights out of me. My first reaction was to be so angry that they didn't ask and that they went all by themselves. Then I was sooooooo glad that they were safe. As soon as I drove into the driveway Austin came right outside and said, "Sorry Momma". Trying to compose myself I decided to say, "Put your bikes in the car, we are cleaning up at Grandma's, we are going home, and you can not play outside the rest of the day." They obeyed very well the rest of the day! Needless to say they didn't get to play with their cousins that day. I sat down and talked with them about why that was wrong and dangerous. Then when Dad came home we sat down as a family and talked about it again.

Come to find out while we were talking about it Austin told us there was a man there on the corner (I am sure an angel whether he was human or not) that helped them cross the busy street. They road on the busy street until there was a "turn" to go into the neighborhood and then they rode through the neighborhood the "back" way to their house. It made me feel better that they weren't on the busy street the whole time but thankful that Heavenly Father kept them safe.

Messy Fun!

So this is what my boys have been doing all summer long! Well... at least when we haven't been on vacation somewhere. MUD, MUD, MUD!!! They have a ton of fun but I don't like the way it ruins the front of our yard. It keeps them occupied all day long. Most of the day consists of me saying, " You have enough water! Turn that water off!" As the water is running down the road three houses! Today they actually got into trouble so they had to stay inside most of the afternoon because they didn't obey and keep the water off when I told them they had enough but I will make a post about that later when I have the pictures downloaded. But for now, here is some fun muddy pictures to enjoy!

Time Flies When . . .

Wow, I can't believe that our baby is a year old. Here are some pictures of him enjoying his first cupcake.

Using my phone, I took a video of his first bite along with the candle and the singing, but in my technological ineptness I didn't get it saved. I was upset at myself. Oh well.

Life is kept busy with work, kids, and callings. That along with trying to keep up with the yard and other household chores keeps us moving. I wish life had a pause button like my DVR so that I could just take a break and rest for a minute. It seems like all I do is work, eat, and sleep. Jakey has also been taking steps here and there, and will go three or four steps walking and then try to run. It is cute. He "runs" to the door with his brothers anytime I come home from being gone.

Well, there is a little bit to chew on until the next long overdue update hits the webwaves.

Getting caught up

Okay, so when are we ever "caught up" on everything but we have been out of town for almost a month and I have been trying to get caught up on EVERYTHING; work, house work, laundry, keeping the boys out of the mud--or at least out of the house while muddy, etc. We had a lot of fun though.

We spent a whole week in Preston as a family and we were able to visit Joshes family. We got to visit a lot of college friends during that time and realized how much we missed them and how out of touch we have been but we were glad to see them. Then we went to Utah for my neice's wedding. Then over the 4th of July we had a fun barbeque with lots of family and fireworks at my brother's house. We have had a month of family and fun that was much needed for vacation time. Within all of this we had stomach flu and sunburns that we decided we wanted to share with extended family :) Although we had so much fun, everyone is glad to have their own beds to sleep in. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who was so hospitable to let us stay at their house and/or helped us through this month!

I wanted to respond to a tag that we got quite awhile ago. It was a series of questions to ask my boys to see how they "see me". Her goes! Have fun reading! Note, these were asked at different times with each of them, so the other wasn't there when asking the questions.

WAR

This is a fun game that is old as dirt that we have started playing as a family. The boys love it and Austin is old enough to figure out who won when all lay the cards down. Jeffrey has figured out that anything with a face (Jack, Queen, King) wins. It is cute. They love it when we have a war or a double war. Tonight Austin, Jeffrey, and me all laid down the same number, so all three of us had to war. They love it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Today is my hubby's birthday. I just wanted to take a second to tell him HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you so much and I am grateful for all that you do! I am so sorry that you had to have a root canal on your birthday. This is the last year of your 20's, isn't that crazy! Love you, love you! Hope you had a great day!

Love Amber.

Ooh, we need another bathroom!

We only have one bathroom, so as you probably could imagine, we almost had a a disaster today. We all needed to use it and no one was going fast enough! :) Luckily this hasn't happened very often but it is times such as these or times that the stomach flu hits that we really wish we had another bathroom!

Okay, Okay, Okay

So I have heard from quite a few people that I need to update my blog again. :) I know I am boring. hehehe

So first of all, we had a case of the exploding camera battery. I went to take a picture with it and it said that the battery was dead, so I tried to take the battery out to charge it and I couldn't get it out which seemed really weird. So Josh tried getting it out. He finally got it out and he said, "Amber does this look like it is bulging in the middle to you?" Sure enough. So we don't know what happened, but we need to get a new camera battery so we can update on pictures soon.

I have been really busy trying to pick up some extra work while it is the slow season for UPS, so I have been at the computer a lot, just not doing the fun stuff that I want to be doing, like this blog :)

We also found out that we need to get tubes in Jake's ears. He has been sick so often and up so much in the middle of the night that we finally took him to an ear, nose, and throat doctor. Sure enough, he needs them. Austin and Jeffrey were glad they got to go to his doctor's appointment too because the nurse gave them a ride in the patient chair that went up and down. And then she gave them popcicles! I don't know about you but I have never heard of a doctor's office giving out popcicles! Ya, we will go there again. Otherwise Jake is doing great. He is crawling everywhere. He looks just like a little spider because he doesn't crawl on his hands and knees but on his hands and feet and he goes very fast. So he looks like a little spider going across the room. He also crawls up stairs now and when he is on the couch, he climbs up the back of the couch and stands on the back of the couch and looks out the window! All by himself! He is a monkey. He also LOVES the bathroom. We have to make sure the door is shut all the time because that is his favorite place to go to put his hands where they shouldn't be. He is so fun to play with and just a tease.

It is barely spring and I can't keep Austin and Jeffrey out of the water! It is already driving me crazy! We have a neighbor that has some irrigation water in their yard and a tiny ditch. The boys are just attracted to it. One day they went over their in the morning time and got soaken wet from head to toe and they were not allowed to go outside until later in the afternoon. After a long time in the house and a stern warning, they were finally able to go back outside. So they went back outside, and guess what they did. Yep, got soaked again from head to toe in the same place. So they were grounded from going over their for a few days. Then a couple of days later they turned on our sprinklers and I was walking by just in time to hear Austin tell Jeffrey, "Mom said we could get wet". That was the end of the day outside for him. THEN... yesterday they were at the same neighbor house as before and they came home COVERED head to toe in mud! It was actually kind of funny.
The mud on Jeffrey's face was so dried on that he couldn't move his face. The lids of his eyes were stuck. It took two times washing them with soap to get all the mud off their bodies.

Austin had his preschool program the other day. It was very cute. And this is the last month of school already! He is excited to go to kindergarten next year. Jeffrey is so smart I have a hard time remembering that he is only 3. He is my little helper and babysitter and he always reminds us to say prayers.

Also My dad had hip surgery almost two weeks ago. He is doing great! He got his staples out yesterday and he is already helping with baseball and doing driver's ed again.

Josh and I are just trying to keep up with everything. We like to watch Ax men in the evenings and we are so glad that ER is back on TV. Just wish Las Vegas would hurry up and come back.

Busy Reflections

I'd like to say that the reason that more posts haven't appeared recently is due to the fact that I've been so overwhelmingly busy that I haven't had time. While that is partially the case, it's not the entire truth. I've sat down to post several times, but just haven't felt creative. I think my brother said it best on his blog. Who wants to read about my boring life?

Anyway, as Amber mentioned I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Which, after about 2 months is getting under control. I'm having to learn how to eat again. At least, learn how to foods that are better for me. How come foods that are good for me chew like gravel and taste like chalk or worse? It's definately changing the way I eat.

Austin and Jeffrey came home the other day looking like swamp thing. Amber mentioned it in her latest post and there is a picture. I'm sure glad we don't live by a lake or pond or other large body of water. I'm glad it's just the neighbor's ditch, which I know can be just as dangerous but I feel safer anyway.

My latest "keep me busy in my spare time" project is running really, really well. My dad had an old 1978 Honda Hawk motorcycle that he bought to commute to work on. A throttle cable or something broke and after he got it fixed didn't ride it much for whatever reason. Then after he passed away it sat even longer. My brother tried to work with it a little but just didn't have the time to devote to it. Well, last summer I had my mom bring it up to me along with all the pieces and parts she could find laying around. About a month ago I got it started up for the first time in probably about 8 - 10 years. It ran a little rough for a while. I put some B12 Chemtool in the gas and it's done wonders. Now I just need brakes and I'll be all set. I do cruise up and down our little cul-de-sac and the two older boys love going on rides. I can't wait to get the brakes fixed and get it licensed so that I can go on a longer ride.

Well, if you're still awake reading this, you're probably just barely awake. So, until next time, Silly Tator!

Long time no Blog~

Wow! what a couple of weeks. The craziest thing has just been trying to get over the viral colds and coughs that has been lingering and lingering. Of course this has caused many late nights and some all nighters. Combine this with still having to take care of everybody and a household and keeping up on the jobs and you have an exhausted family!

The tooth fairy came but the pictures are not downloaded yet, sorry. But there is another loose tooth now! Austin is doing great. He is loving school and loves going to soccer every Saturday.

We could right a book about all of funny things that come out of Jeffrey's mouth. The last couple weeks it has been:
"Woah! That scared my life!"
"Holy cow! That scared my crap out!"
"Mom, who made us?"
"Mom, what makes us talk?"

Yikes! This boy thinks too much already. :)

Many of you know already but Josh was officially diagnosed with having diabetes. He was going in to have a DOT physical and they found sugar in his urine. So they did a blood test. Well, his sugar was too high for their monitor to read so his blood had to be taken to the hospital to be tested. Three and a half hours later we finally got the results. Yep, diabetes. We have learned a lot in the last few weeks and we are definitely going to have to learn to eat differently. Who knew that Spaghetti wasn't a good meal? Too many carbs. Carbs equal sugar. Ya, we love sweets and comfort food. So we have a lot of learning to do.

Look at this hair!

So Jake woke up Sunday morning last week and his hair looked like this! All by itself. I couldn't have done a better job if I had tried. You think it is time for a haircut? This little guy has the thinnest flightiest hair. It is hard to tame.

FIRST DRIVING LESSONS

We have this old riding lawn mower and Austin and Jeffrey were just begging for a ride on it or to drive it. I was really surprised when Josh told them to get on and he put it in the lowest gear and... let them drive! They didn't do too bad.

Also Austin lost his first tooth today! Pictures to come soon so be watching. He was so worried that he wouldn't be able to whistle when it came out, but sure enough he was still able to. He was very excited. So tooth fairy, if you are reading this be sure to come tonight! (Bring some for Mom and Dad too)!

A Beautiful Day

It was just that! The weather outside was just perfect today. Not too hot and not too cold. I was able to get some stuff done in the house that I wanted to get done while the boys were outside (no interruptions) and I also went on a walk with the boys while they rode their bikes to the park. I got the exercise I needed and they had fun riding their bikes and playing in the park. Little Jakey crashed in the stroller on the way home. Austin and Jeffrey had such a good play day that there were no problems getting them to sleep tonight. They were so tired! Definitely looking foward to more days like these! Just wish it would stay this way, not get too stinking hot or too cold to have to stay in all the time. But I guess it is because of those times that we are greatful for days like today.

Also, this is a cute story/joke from the Reader's Digest that my Mother-in-Law sent to me quite a long time ago. For those of you that don't know, I do medical transcription, so I got a big kick out of it. Hope you enjoy it.

"We were really confused. While transcribing medical audiotapes, a colleague came upon the following garbled diagnosis: This man has pholenfrometry.
Knowing nothing about that particular condition, she double checked with the doctor. After listening' to the tape, he shook his head, 'This man", he said translating for her, has fallen from a tree." (Patricia Longbottom) :)

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!!!

Today actually started out great!! It rained this morning and at 7:15 when I walked outside to go to work it was simply beautiful!!! I only had to deliver to two places so I was off earlier than usual for a Saturday. I was able to do some yard work and clean things up a little. Amber and I had planned on going to Boise to the temple this evening and everything was setting up nicely to allow us to do so.

We got all ready and Amber left to go pick up her niece and a friend of hers that were going to babysit for us. I stayed at home with Jakey and finished getting myself ready. I went outside to give Amber her wallet because she forgot it, and watched her drive away and then turned my attention to all the neighborhood kids that were playing out in front of our house and up and down the street. One of them kicked a big green playground type ball and it went off his foot a little weird and flew into the antenna sticking up on the back of my car near the trunk. I groaned as I realized that the antenna was bent. I ducked inside to check on Jakey then went out to survey the damages.

Meanwhile the kid who kicked the ball was near hysterics, apologizing up and down and left and right. As I neared my car I could hear a popping sound and I was like "oh no". The tip of the antenna slammed into the rear window and put a nice hole in it, and the rest of the window was slowing playing rice crispies (snap, crackle, pop) and making a nice design. It actually did look (and sound) pretty cool.

Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the temple. But we were able to go out on a date, which we haven't been able to do for awhile. And I've got someone to help me move a bunch of rocks that I've needed to move for the last year or so.

If you see a Honda driving around with a dark blue (looks black) hood and plastic taped to the car as a back window, it's just me. Honk and wave!

To Tooth, or not to Tooth?

First, some background and advice. Don't ever tell your wife that you are bored and don't have anything to do. She'll make you get another job to fill your so called free time! Just kidding. I did have extra time as I am off work at UPS by noon everyday, so I had afternoons to bother Amber as much as possible! Anyway, to help with her sanity, I went part time job hunting and bagged myself a job at Radio Shack that fits perfectly into my afternoon availability.

Amber called me early this afternoon while I was at work and left me a message that Jakob is getting a new tooth on top. He currently has two adorably cute teeth on the bottom. Then later in the afternoon she and the kids brought me a Dairy Queen treat for an excuse to come see me as Austin had something that he was soooo excited to show and tell me. Austin handed me my blizzard and then promptly began wiggling a front tooth with his tongue. Holy cow!! It is very loose and fall out soon. I couldn't believe how loose it was especially since he just told Amber about it this afternoon, randomly even. So, Austin is starting to lose a tooth, and Jakey is starting to find it. :)

Whats for Dinner?

I need some dinner ideas! First of all I am not a very good cook and I need to get better at that. And second, we definitely need to eat healthier. And lastly Josh is usually my cooker and my new idea finder but he is not going to be here as much to help out. So on any night, every night, or when you feel like it, either send me a post or send me an email and just tell me what you had for dinner tonight. And for those that also want ideas, I will post what we had. Just a warning, some of it probably won't always be so healthy. There is always something to improve on isn't there!!! There is a link to our emal on the right of our blog --------> if you want to use it. Thanks for your help!

One of our favorite restaurants is Winger's, so Josh had the idea to go buy their sauce and then go buy some breaded chicken fillets and some salad. I think it was the fanciest dinner we have ever had at home.

(by the way, this was posted by Amber. I was just on Joshes computer and forgot to log him out and sign in as me :) :) :)

He Cooks, He Blogs, He Scrapbooks too!

I've got half a dozen hobbies that I like to tinker with off and on when I'm bored. Scrapbooking is one of them. I recently started doing it again. I hate messing with all the papers, stickers and other stuff that comes with the territory though. Plus, the vast majority of our pictures are digital, and up to this point have just been taking up space gathering "dust" on their virtual shelf inside my computer.

So the other day I was bored and I had finished reading the news (which is another thing I like to do online), and I googled digital scrapbooking and came up with 9.9 quadzillion results as you can probably imagine. Among the results was a website called scrapbookflair.com. They offered a free program and free layouts, backgrounds, embelishments, and etc. so I thought I would download the program and give it a whirl. So far I like it, and here is a page that I created using it.

Two "Dudes" and their baby

So Josh got these two blue BYU hats for 50 cents a piece out of a claw machine at Wal Mart (Sorry Jim, I know you hate BYU) and the boys just loved them. They decided to turn them around back wards and Jeffrey says, "Mom we are Dudes!" Where the heck did they learn that? So silly!

I don't know who is having more fun in the back yard with the snow, the kids or DAD!
Even Jakey is in on the fun.

Joke

What is blue and fluffy?

Blue Fluff!!!

In telling this joke to a few members of our family one answer was a smurf. And after telling another family memeber the answer, the response was laughter followed by, "Which one of your boys came up with that one?" I think that was funnier than the joke!

Josh told me this joke that he read off the computer. I was racking my brain to think what could be blue and fluffy. When the answer was so obvious, it got me to thinking how isn't that just how we view life sometimes? Sometimes we think the answer to our questions in life are more complicated than they really are.

Us

I had a request to post pictures of myself and Amber. The sad thing is the only one I could find is two years old! I guess one of the benefits of being a parent is you are always on the "right" side of the camera, and don't end up being the subject of very many. So, we've got hundreds of photos of the kids, but not too many that include us in them.
Hopefully before too long we'll get updated family pictures that include all of our children and not just Austin when he was 6 months old. How sad!

Our Introduction

This is our first time as bloggers! I have been watching a few family blogs and I just love it. It is fun to see updates every week. One of my passions all of my life has been journaling but the busy life of a working mother has let this slack quite a bit. So hopefully this will be a fun new attempt to keep it alive!

Joshua and I have 3 boys! Who would have thought we were to have 3 boys in a row! Austin is now 5 and in preschool. He loves learning his letters and spells everything. Jeffrey is 3 and is my little babysitter. Jakob is 7 months now and is trying his hardest to start crawling.
